DRAP Alert: Martin Dow, Caraway Pharma Batches Flagged—Check Before Use!

The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has declared specific batches of medicines manufactured by Martin Dow Limited and Caraway Pharmaceuticals substandard after laboratory tests found organic impurities exceeding permissible limits, directing authorities to remove the affected products from the market.

The affected products are Librax tablets (Batch No. 001952), manufactured by Martin Dow Limited, and Carapamin injection (Batch No. 26A059), manufactured by Caraway Pharmaceuticals. The samples were declared substandard by Drug Testing Laboratories in Faisalabad and Lahore, respectively.

DRAP has classified the products as posing a moderate-to-high public health risk and directed provincial drug control departments and its field offices to conduct market surveys to identify and remove the affected batches from circulation.

Pharmacies, distributors and healthcare facilities have been instructed to stop supplying the affected batches, quarantine remaining stock and arrange its return to suppliers or manufacturers. Consumers possessing the specified batches have also been advised to stop using them and contact their suppliers for return or replacement.

Consumers and healthcare professionals can report suspected adverse reactions or product-quality concerns to DRAP’s National Pharmacovigilance Centre through its online reporting portal.
