Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has been elected unopposed as the President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, marking a significant new chapter in the country’s cricket administration.
According to reports, Tamim Iqbal was the sole candidate in the elections held in Dhaka on Sunday, securing the top position without contest. He will lead the Bangladesh Cricket Board for a four-year term.
His appointment comes after the Bangladeshi government dissolved the previous Board of Directors earlier this year, which had been led by Aminul Islam, paving the way for a new leadership structure. Meanwhile, Mohsin Naqvi congratulated Tamim Iqbal on his election and extended his best wishes for the future. He described Tamim’s appointment as a positive development for the growth of cricket in the region.
“Tamim Iqbal’s vast experience as an international cricketer will be invaluable in strengthening Bangladesh cricket and nurturing future talent,” Mohsin Naqvi said. Widely regarded as one of Bangladesh’s greatest cricketers, Tamim now begins a new innings off the field, with expectations high that his leadership will help take Bangladesh cricket to greater heights.
