In a major step towards strengthening Pakistan’s clean energy landscape, K-Electric (KE) and its wholly-owned subsidiary K-Solar have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huawei Technologies at Huawei’s global headquarters in Shenzhen, China. The agreement sets the stage for collaborative development and deployment of cutting-edge energy technologies across Pakistan.
The partnership will focus on three strategic areas: large-scale and industrial-level Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, and the development of microgrids to enhance grid resilience and energy efficiency.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Aamir Ghaziani, Chief Financial Officer of K-Electric and Chairman of K-Solar, said:
“This partnership is a significant milestone in our broader investment strategy and sustainability roadmap. By integrating advanced, tech-enabled solutions, we are reinforcing resilience across Pakistan’s energy value chain. Innovation remains central to ensuring a secure and sustainable energy future for the country.”
Kevin Jin Yu, Managing Director Digital Power, Huawei Pakistan, added:
“Huawei is proud to collaborate with K-Electric and K-Solar to accelerate the deployment of intelligent energy systems in Pakistan. This partnership combines Huawei’s global expertise in smart infrastructure with K-Electric’s deep local experience to co-develop scalable, secure, and sustainable solutions that will contribute to Pakistan’s green energy transition.”
Fahd Khawaja, CEO of K-Solar, also shared his perspective:
“Together with Huawei, we are committed to introducing advanced battery energy storage technologies, bringing reliable and sustainable solutions to industrial users across the country. This collaboration will enable industries to optimize energy use, improve reliability, and reduce their carbon footprint.”
Under the agreement, the parties will jointly conduct technical feasibility studies, develop market strategies, and implement pilot projects tailored to Pakistan’s unique energy needs.
This strategic alliance reflects a shared commitment to fostering innovation, promoting energy diversification, and driving Pakistan’s shift towards a more sustainable, technologically advanced energy future.
