Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima Addresses Global Digital Economy Conference 2024 in Beijing

Minister of State for IT, Shaza Fatima, addressed the opening ceremony of the ‘Global Digital Economy Conference 2024’ in Beijing, highlighting the strategic partnership and strong friendship between Pakistan and China. She emphasized the vast opportunities for cooperation in the IT sector between the two nations.

Fatima stated that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) forms the foundation of bilateral relations between the two countries, enhancing economic stability. She underscored the importance of collaboration in artificial intelligence, cyber security, e-commerce, digital infrastructure, and skills development.

She noted that Pakistan’s IT sector has become crucial for the country’s economic growth, with 20,000 registered IT and IT-enabled service companies exporting products and services to over 170 countries. Each year, 75,000 IT graduates enter the workforce in Pakistan, supported by the Pakistan Software Export Board.

Acknowledging China’s advancements in technology, Fatima praised Chinese companies for leading in telecommunications, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, and e-commerce. She concluded by stating that the Global Digital Economy Conference will provide a platform for joint ventures, knowledge sharing, and the exchange of experiences between IT companies from both nations.
