Disruptions in Social Media and Online Communication Services Across Pakistan

Users across Pakistan are facing severe difficulties accessing popular social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and others. In multiple cities, people are experiencing unannounced disruptions in uploading and downloading audio, video, and images on WhatsApp.

User Challenges

In cities like Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Bahawalpur, Okara, and Gujranwala, users are struggling to use social media apps on mobile data. This situation has forced many citizens to resort to illegal VPNs, as affected services are only functioning through these means.

According to sources, WhatsApp services have been severely affected for the past 24 hours, with 49% of users reporting voice call issues, 32% experiencing messaging disruptions, and 19% facing server-related complaints.

Lack of Official Response

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and mobile and internet service providers have yet to issue any statements or clarifications regarding these disruptions, adding to the frustration of users across the country.

A large number of users have been affected by this outage, facing significant obstacles in their daily routines. The disruption of social media and communication apps has heightened connectivity issues, particularly for those relying on these platforms for business or educational purposes.

Users are demanding the immediate restoration of internet services so they can continue their online activities without interruption. There is hope that the PTA and relevant authorities will soon find a solution to the problem and alleviate the difficulties faced by users.

As the situation develops, users continue to express their concerns and await a resolution to restore normalcy to their online communications
